I’ll be reading your work wherever it lands, Cole.
I am interested though, can you share why your leaving substack?
Also, I finished Right, Down + Circle the other day. It was great. Really well written. Really interesting and nuanced points. And as a self-proclaimed skate nerd I was even pleased to find you enlightened me to a few things I did not know.
Thanks, Michael! And I really appreciate the kind words about the book. It means a lot :)
Regarding moving to Ghost, mainly I'm just over Substack's leadership not taking responsible content moderation seriously when it comes to extremist content (white nationalist, neo-Nazi, anti-trans, etc.) on their platform.
I'll touch on it a bit more in Friday's newsletter. There's also some more site specific stuff I was interested in exploring, like experimenting with some paid subscription tiers (with no paywalls) as Ghost doesn't take a cut of subscriber payments (Substack takes 10%) and more customization around the look and feel of the site/newsletter itself.

Thanks for such a detailed response regarding moving to Ghost, Cole. I appreciate it, as I was unaware of Substacks content moderation woes. And thanks for linking Molly’s article. That was very eye-opening.
Good stuff!
Glad to hear it. Good luck with the migration, and see you over there ✊🏼
🙏❤️
